Ladies and Gentlemen: I am requesting an opportunity to respond to Michael Sherr's 9/1/04 smear campaign and disinformation tactics directed at Protect Arizona NOW, our initiative, and our National Advisory Board. Protect Arizona NOW is an all-volunteer, grassroots organization of 2,200-2,400 citizens trying to get our current laws enforced equally regarding everyone. If that reminds Sherr of Hitler and Nazi Germany, that poor guy needs to go lie down for a long, long time. Actually, the only feasible resemblance of anything in this discussion to Hitler and Nazi Germany are Sherr's demagoguery and smear campaign against PAN and true American heroes, Robert Vasquez and Virginia Abernethy. Our initiative, The Arizona Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act, only fulfills Title 7 Section 12 of the Arizona Constitution requiring "registration and other laws to secure the purity of elections and guard against abuses of the elective franchise." In this state, people can register their dogs from the comfort of their kitchen – and have – as well as minor children, dead people, and people who have never existed. Our amendment to ARS 46-140 is to eliminate the current welfare department's internal policy of prohibiting their employees from reporting illegal aliens who commit welfare fraud, which prohibition is in clear violation of the Supremacy Clause (Article VI) of the U.S. Constitution. And, Mr Sherr, the connection of this to Nazi Germany is what??? Check out the AHCCCS (Arizona Medicaid) application on our website, www.PAN2004.com. You'll see with your own eyes that, twice in bold letters on that application, everyone applying for AHCCCS must provide "copies of both sides of citizenship or immigration documents . . .[and that] AHCCCS will not report any information to BCIS (formerly INS)." Why is that immunity on that application once, much less twice, much less in bold letters? The AHCCCS application further states, "Anyone who asks for AHCCCS ...must tell us his or her Social Security number or apply for one. . . . we can help you apply for one. . . . Immigrants who are not legally able to obtain a Social Security number are not required to provide one." So, again there's one standard for citizens to meet, and that standard waived for illegal aliens. PAN just wants the same eligibility standards applied evenly to everyone. What's racist about that? The racists are the people who say citizens must comply with these standards or face welfare-fraud felony charges, but illegals should get off scot-free. Plus it's already the law (ARS 46-140-C) that employees (and their supervisors, if applicable) report welfare fraud or face criminal misdemeanor charges – nothing new there. Our state had 500,000 unverifiable names on voter rolls in 1998. We just had a candidate for office, and her campaign manager, admit to voting as illegal aliens for over a decade, then saying "Undocumenteds register and vote right and left. We know it's illegal, but we get pressured into doing it." Anyone who thinks voter fraud isn't rampant in Arizona – and no doubt Idaho -- must also think employers aren't hiring illegal aliens either, since virtually no employer has gotten fined or sanctioned for hiring illegals in Arizona for years. By the way, in case Sherr doesn't realize this, Arizona is a desert. Western states have already dried up the Colorado River to where it no longer even flows into the Sea of Cortez. Arizona and 39 other states do not have enough water for all the people they have now. Where is the water supposed to come from when Phoenix sprawls from the Mexican border to the Grand Canyon after taking in all the illegal aliens Sherr seems to embrace? Who's going to pay for the infrastructure and services required by all these generally uneducated illegal aliens? The National Research Council just last year said the net cost to taxpayers of the average immigrant – legal or illegal – without a high school education is $89,000. Perhaps Mr. Sherr would like to put his money where his mouth is and start coughing up $89,000 x the 15-20 million or so illegal aliens in this country now. We, the vast majority of citizen/taxpayers don't want to pay it – or does Sherr have a problem with democracy, too? PAN has been a personal truth-seeking, enlightenment-sharing campaign for intellectual honesty for me. The right to free speech is abused when people, who have no clue what they're talking about, pontificate with few if any facts at hand. People like Sherr might seem more intellectually honest if they refrained from engaging their mouths until their brains get some fuel in the form of facts. In addition to all of the above, I personally resent Sherr's innuendos and libel. While fewer and fewer Americans are contributing to community causes and giving freely of their time without remuneration, I have been named Volunteer of the Year in one state, Humanitarian of the Year in another, spent 30 years of my life earning those awards through thousands of volunteer hours donated to public hospitals (largely minority patients), nursing homes (nearly all minority residents), creating/promoting/funding athletic programs for troubled youth (all minorities), donating 25-30% of my income the past three decades to charities (even when I couldn't afford it), donating large amounts of furniture/household items/cash to a local migrants' program (all legals), and conducting numerous voter registration drives in ghettos (largely minority) during which I've been choked unconscious and beaten black and blue. If that's Sherr's, or anyone else's, definition of a racist, I want my time and my money back right now. I also want to know what warped mind can compare the activities of a democratically constituted, community-based group like PAN, to the Holocaust or Hitler's Third Reich? What is eating on Michael Sherr? And how long has he had this problem? Whatever it is, it's not from, about, or related to PAN, Virginia Abernethy, Robert Vasquez, or me. Kathy McKee, Chairman Protect Arizona NOW The article: Vasquez embarking on dangerous path By Dr. Michael E. Sherr First, let me be clear: I consider myself a conservative and a Republican. I voted for Bush, and I am in favor of less government services, more tax relief, decentralized human services and faith-based services. That said, I believe it is time for the people of Canyon County to remove Commissioner Robert Vasquez. If Vasquez's agenda for Canyon County (and America) wasn't already clear, his membership with the Protect Arizona Now advisory board and his willingness to work with a separatist should clarify things. Commissioner Vasquez wants to protect Canyon County (American) superiority from the lazy, irresponsible races of people moving into the county (country). This is the same propaganda Hitler set forth in Mein Kampf, where he argued that the Aryan superiority was being threatened by the Jewish race which, he argued, was lazy and did not contribute to Germany's well-being. But some may ask, "How can you compare Vasquez to Hitler? What is the difference between a separatist (as the woman claims to be) and a supremacist?" Complete article |
