Subject: A Day in the Life

Hi Val,

I realize this is probably too late for your article, but in case late is better than never:

Regarding the new movie "A Day in the Life Without Mexicans" (or whatever its name is), I cannot comment on the exact premise of the movie if it includes legal immigrants or only Mexicans.  On environmental aspects of immigration, there is no difference between legal and illegal, but on the ethical and probably the financial aspects, there's quite a difference, so it's hugely insulting to legal immigrants to lump them in with illegal aliens. On the hypothesis of what life would be like in Arizona (or America) without illegal aliens --regardless of what country they come from, since ethically  it doesn't matter whether they're here illegally from Mexico or Malaysia or Morocco, Guatemala or Greece or Great Britain--I would love to experience life without crime, and that does include a life without illegal immigrants.  Our economy would not collapse, as the pro-illegal alien lobby would have people believe, but would benefit greatly from it.  I believe crime rates would go back down, as would unemployment.  Perhaps our medical, education, law enforcement/ judicial/prison systems might even recover from the devastation illegal immigration has brought them.  Illegal aliens need to stay in their own countries and work to make those countries better, even though the work of trying to rid government of corruption and rid the public of apathy is anything but easy.  This is what the overwhelming number of citizens all over Arizona and America want . . . what's wrong with democracy?
